When I type my password in terminal and hit enter it asks for the password again. It doesn't allow me to go to the next step. I can't install programs.

Are you typing the right password?

You won't get any feedback i the terminal. Just punch it in and you'll be fine

Make sure your CAPSLOCK isn't on

The NUM LK is another key which will mess up a password on laptop terminals, and you don't get any warnings about it being on either, like you sometimes get with the caps lock.

You can get panel items to show the numlock status. Usually systems have lights
