why is my internet faster with gnome-system-monitor up?
Hello,
I switched ISPs and now have Verizon FIOS. The upload/download is 25/10 mbps.
On my Windows XP box, I regularly achieve these speeds.
On my Linux box, I was capping out at around 10/10. The Linux box has a gigabit ethernet card connected to gigabit router then through the ISP router (same path as the XP box).
I re-installed Ubuntu 9.04 fresh, still getting 10/10.
Here's where things get weird and unexplainable.
So I started gnome-system-
I obtained faster speeds - 24 / 14. I re-ran the test again, around 24/14.
So I shut down gnome-system-
So my question is, what is gnome-system-
