Two versions are installed

Asked by Moshe Caspi

They are the snap version 40.1 and the deb package version 3.36.1. In my opinion, only one should be installed and I have no idea how two versions are installed. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is installed. Which version do you have on your system, the deb or the snap?

I would stay with just snap packages my self.
Reason, easy to install and all dependencies are met during install. Most of Ubuntu is comprised of snap packages.
For Ubuntu system monitor : https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/gnome-system-monitor
This is the current system monitor for Gnome. Ubuntu is derived from Debian. Both will work.
Essentially they most likely are the same package. Just installed two different ways.
I would uninstall version 40.1 It is an Unstable Experimental Program not even in development stages.
Version 3.38.0-1 is currently under development under Debian Buster for testing.
Both of which may contain bugs.
Your 3.36.0-1 is the stable current release for both Ubuntu and Debian

Thanks. Version 40.1 which is the snap, is stable from what I see in the snap store. On one hand, you recommend staying with the snap. On the other hand, you recommend to uninstall version 40.1 which is the snap. What version do you have installed?

Can you help with this problem?
