Open a terminal CTRL+ALT+T

-------------------------
echo $GDMSESSION
----------------------------------

Tells you which variant you are using: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, etc

----------------------------------
lsb_relase -a
--------------------------------

Gives the release eg 12.04.2

and

-------------------------------
uname -a
------------------------------
Which version of the Linux kernel you are using

lsb_release -a

Will tell you the codename, and release number.

I don't see how Ubuntu version is related to getting in to a website in ANY way.

James: Asking four questions about a similar subject in six hours is not needed. #4 above will tell you what Ubuntu you are using. Typing in the site, in your browser, will tell you if the Bookmarks list is corrupt. 225894,225886,225855,225863. The answers you asked for are spread over four answers. Much easier to just have one question to check.

Can you help with this problem?
