Using gnome shell as default

Asked by Pablo Marchant

I'm currently using gnome-shell (using the gnome-shell package in the repos) all the time on my karmic installation. However, I always have to wait until my standard gnome panels load, and then use a launcher I have that initiates the shell. Is there a way to avoid the gnome-panels and metacity to load, and instead proceed directly to the shell?

Make a symbolic link " ln -s /usr/share/applications/gnome-shell.desktop /home/$USER/.config/autostart/ "
Works for me anyway..

Can you help with this problem?
