Clicking "activities" in gnome-shell under ubuntu 11.10 makes the system freeze

Asked by tomma25

After installing ubuntu 11.10 Beta, i installed gnome-shell from the software center and at the reboot I selected "gnome" as environment at the login.

The buttons on the right work fine, while by simply clicking on the button "activities" on the right makes the system freeze.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like a bug to me. I suggest you report it so that it can be resolved.

This is a somewhat known current issue with gnome-shell, probably related to the updated gir1.2-freedesktop, gir1.2-glib-2.0, libgirepository-1.0-1, version 1.29.17) packages.
Look for some updates to gnome-shell/mutter/gjs and clutter in the next week or so
One of the more common current crashes is here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/840715

You should probably see a gnome-shell.crash in /var/crash

Can you help with this problem?
