Ubuntu 12.04 Alt-Tab broken in Gnome?

Asked by Mike

I just upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 and use the Gnome interface rather than Unity. Pressing Alt-Tab to switch between windows no longer works, and often the system responds as if only Tab had been pressed. A quick search revealed a few other postings and one bug report that has been closed for not being a bug (!?). This is terribly frustrating - does anyone know what's going on here?

I suggest you run:

ccsm

and enable the ring switcher, you can set the key shortcut to ALT+TAB and it should be ok.

The bug you've linked was a dupe of the one I've linked now.
The bug is still open, confirmed and incl. variants of workarounds.
Gnome-classic or -Shell isn't standard setup bug fixes may take a bit longer.
