Gnome 3 for Ubuntu

Asked by Wolf Rogner

Ubuntu 11.04 comes with Gnome 2.8 and Unity.
After giving Unity a (extended) try, I consider it extremely inferior.

The icon bar offers limited capacity, full screen mode for most applications is cumbersome, menus at the top of the window or inside the task bar are an inacceptable usability issue.

All this can be eliminated by using Gnome 3.

Its supported, its functional, its a logical development from Gnome 2.8.

As far as I read in several feedbacks, there is no support or acceptance for unity. Please change direction before the community changes it for you.

Canonical don't monitor this forum as far as I am aware.

Now, a viable alternative if you don't like unity for now, is to just use the "classic" mode.

In the future you may need to consider distributions like Mint.

Wrong answer.

Are you really interested in loosing all Ubuntu users by just being stubborn?

You get feedback that Unity is insufficient and all you reply is: Get lost?

This is a serious issue and Mint certainly is not a valid business alternative.

Maybe I was misguided in thinking this was the official communication platform run by Canonical.

Thanks,
Wolf
