Changed System>Administration>Login Screen now i get terminal cui login how to restore gui login ?

Asked by Myroslav

Hello,

I am using Ubuntu 10.10. When in System>Administration>Login Screen I must have made an unwanted choice. When I now try to load ubuntu, I no longer get the default login, but what looks like a white Terminal window. I do not know what command to type to get into the system. Could someone please help?

Try typing "gnome-session" in the terminal window, that should jump-start gnome and give you the opportunity to reset the login screen. I can't test that theory at the moment, but it should help.

I too made this mistake (just to explore) but had to ask the same question. Will try this trick on my Linux machine and will report the result.

Thanks you both Myroslav and Rich. That remedy worked. This is a good lesson for us who try experimenting with settings. However, experimenting is good, because we can learn from those and others have the opportunity to learn from those experiences. Thanks.
