Ubuntu 12.10 Screen blackout after 10 minutes

Asked by Gabe

I have all screen saver/lock/brightness settings to never blackout my screen as it's a media center and don't want it to go black while streaming videos online. No matter what settings I try, the screen always blacks out after 10 minutes while streaming videos online, if I'm playing them from vlc or the like everything's fine the screen only blacks out if I'm streaming video online or if no input is given for 10 minutes, I guess online streaming isn't recognized as playing media. Any ideas?

You need to install Caffeine for that:

In a terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:caffeine-developers/ppa

(press enter when prompted)

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install caffeine

And that program will allow you to disable the screensaver/blackout etcetera whilst watching videos
