how do i connect to internet withe username and password in ubuntu like windows

i am trying to caoonet with internet
i have an internet connection which has username and password
i windows i know to set up it using network set up wizard
and i can make the connection with username and password
can u plz give me the way to set up it in ubuntu 8

can you specify , which type of internet connection you have ?
as far as i remember, i used to connect my dial-ups through username/password.

...in case you have a dialup, you can edit the /etc/wvdial.conf, and set the username/password there.
there's also a gui frontend for wvdial in the repos.

Which release of ubuntu are you using...?
Is your modem an external modem...?

Please first play with System->Administration->Network ppp connection if there is an item.
Then please try to install gnome-ppp configure and use it.
