Can't get my laptop to suspend or hibernate in 9.04.

Asked by mannyd

Hi, I have a Compaq Presario, basically a cheapo HP laptop with an Nvidia graphics card. Anyway, I have the ubiquitous blinking cursor problem when I try to suspend or hibernate. It looks like it successfully sleeps, but then it doesn't wake up, and I have to do a hard reboot.

I spent a long time searching the web, and attempting to modify files using the terminal, but I am a noob, and nothing seemed to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ubuntu seems very cool.

Hibernate and suspend have not worked properly since Intrepid came on the scene. Currently there is a bug report out to get it fixed. It will be in good time. Bug report #365627

Be patient

Thanks for responding so quickly. Bummer that these basic features don't work right.
