suspend-hybernate don't work on dell 6400

hello
could you help me make work suspend and hibernate option. when i chose them from menu "quit" both of them work but then it's not possible to turn back, accept if I shutdown the laptop holding down the power button for more then 5 seconds, and then restart.
I have already 2 months in linux ubuntu.

specs:dell inspiron 6400 duo2core 2ghz, ati x1300 with fglrx, 1gb ram, ubuntu7.04, gnome 2.18, xserver 7.2, kernel 2.6.20.

What can I say, I don't have fglrx, to me suspend is better than a 3d desktop. As of today you can't have both I'm afraid.

can you give me some more information??
what should i change to make them work??
should I wait for ati to make the right driver or what else?

There is nothing I or you or anybody else can do. These are closed source drivers. Only ATI can fix them. They know the problem very well, if you go to their bug tracking system you can see the bug, and also how long its been sitting there.....
