suspend/hybernate doesnt work after installing kde-desktop on 6.10

After instaling kubuntu-desktop on edgy 6.10, kernel 2.6.17-11-generic neither suspend nor hybernate work properly. System hangs.

This happens with kde, and with gnome (i am choosing desktop at the begining of the session)

my laptop is a an acer travelmate 4021wlmi with 512M ram, pentium M 725

any idea?
