Gnome power manager not intalled correctly

I've upgraded my laptop ubunto 10.4, after the installation I can't log in, a warning appeared on the screen. The configuration defaults for GENOME power manager have not been installed correctly. Please contact your computer administrator.

What is Genome? I can't find it in the packages.

2. Did you upgrade to or from 10.04 and from what or to what?

I would be tempted to get a 12.04 CD, backup my data then do a clean install
