Battery Notifications

Asked by Gautam

I'm running Gutsy on a Lenovo 3000 G400 and the power manager seems a little wonky. It does not seem to allow me to set up notifications for when I have low battery or when the battery is charged. It does warn me when the battery is below 20% (or maybe 30%) but nothing else.

Is there a way to setup notification when battery is below 5% and when the battery is fully charged?

theres a setting in the battery config (power management, under preferences) that lets you decide what to do when the battery reaches critical level (10%-5%) if your battery is below 5% it is usually best to have it shutdown/hibernate automatically, in case your not at the computer when this happens, if you don't want this simply select do nothing when battery level critical.

also in the general tab for power management is an option for notification icon ONLY when the battery level is critical

hope this helps

Thanks Brian. The thing is under System>Preferences>Power Management>On Battery Power I do not have an option to set what percentage of battery left ought to be critical.

Here is a screen shot:

Any ideas?

... i am using Ubuntu Hardy (gnome) with the last pack of updates, and this still happening, scared the heck of me when the pc turned off ,without any warning . The pop ups are enabled , and appear when I unplug the battery, or plug it back... System>Preferences>Power Management>On Battery Power, have no pop up action, just hibernate, shutdown ans standby ...
any workaround here?
