power settings

How do I change power settings such as changing the time when the monitor shuts off in ubuntu 11.04?

search for Power management in the search box and choose the time in put display to sleep option

You also will have to access System, Preference, Screensaver and take the tick out of "Lock screen when screensaver is active" as well as, if you use a screensaver, set it to start later than the default 5 minutes.
If you are using a LCD or LED monitor you do not need to use a screensaver.
