Corrupted installation of Ubuntu 9.04

Asked by novice

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a lenovo PC (Thinkcentre) alongside Windows XP. When i boot into Ubuntu 9.04, i need to enter user name and password. However, it does not boot completely and the screen remains black with a brief message like "the default configuration of Genome Power manager has not installed correctly. Contact your system administrator." What should i do?
