Right click and hit "add to panel" What you want to add is "Menu Bar."

To reset the panel to defaults, type this in a !terminal:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

This will set the panels back to what they were when you first installed. You will lose any customisation but you will have a stock set of panels to customise as you wish.

This is also NOTHING to do with firefox. This is related to the desktop environent. Please create questions properly in future as it helps group similar questions together and accellerates intelligence searching for users.

Okay found how to get into a terminal command from actionparsnip did not work , neither did gcontool-2--shutdown. several other known commands didnt work. I am using Ubuntu 9.1

thats because its the wrong command. The command is:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

There isnt even the word 'shutdown' in that entire command so you are getting muddled

Can you help with this problem?
