I lost part of the panel

Asked by John Rosing

I installed and updated a completely new UBUNTU. This gave me a panel at the top of the screen allowing me to select Applications, Places etc. I dragged the wrong thing into the panel and these choices disappeared. How do I get them back?

Right click on panel>add to panel> main bar or system bar ( something like that). I'm not at ubuntu right now but you will see what I mean when you go to add to panel.I hope this will help you.

Open a Terminal (Applications - Accesories - Terminal), or use the "Alt+F2" shortcut, and introduce (copy&paste then Enter) comands above....

-If you want to recover your panels try:

gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel

- If you want to restore your panels to gnome's defaults (as after installation out-of-the-box) try:

gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /
