My reduced windows disappear from my desktop

If I have any program window open, then minimize it, it completely disappears. It use to appear on the bottom panel but it, along with the trash button, have both disappeared. Any suggestions?

I think you need to restore the "Window list" applet to your toolbar:
- right click on a clear area of the panel and select
+ Add to panel

Add the "Window list" applet
