tool bar doesn't appear at the top of screen after upgrade

Asked by mrlopes

I recently upgraded to Unbunt 9.04....

It was working fine... but i think an update might have messed something up...

When i boot up, the desktop tool bar at the top of the screen doesn't always appear. It happens randomly...

There is a black swipe across the screen and then the tool bar appears empty ( ICONS ARE INVISIBLE ).
I have to restart to get it to work properly and sometimes it takes a few restarts.

Please help....

Try this:

Press Alt+F2 and type: gnome-terminal

Type: sudo debconf gnome-panel

Then reboot.

Hi...
Thanks for your reply...
I tried what you said....
This is the message returned:-
** (gnome-panel:3475): WARNING **: Could not connect to session manager: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SessionManager': no such name

(gnome-panel:3475): libglade-WARNING **: Unexpected element <requires-version> inside <glade-interface>.

The panel reset (removed new icons and replaced original icons...

Don't think it helped... :,(
