lost taskbar at beginning window

once login and get to desktop window, my options, trashcan and destop1 icons are gone and I cannot inimize. Believe I have lost the origional opening window. Can I do a restore from previous date on my laptop in linux ubuntu! When I open the window the bottom menu with these functions on the bottom bar are completely gone and I cannot do these functions. Help

lisa,

pls right click on an empty place on the top panel and select new panel option; that should add a new panel to the desktop.

First i don't have an idia about restoration on ubuntu, but there is a
modfication you can do:
go to the " menu bar ", right click on it and chose " menu edit ", go to the
" system tools " and activate the " configuration editor ".
Now go to the " menu bar " and Applications/System tools/Configuration Tools
Click on apps/nautilus/desktop.
now you can chose your favorites options like showing desktop and trash
icons.
Enjoy.
may some links don't have the some names because i work on i french version.
