The application button on the panel doesn't work anymore.

I have been running ubuntu for about a year. At first it was fine, but all of the sudden my applications button in the panel doesn work. When I click on it all that it shows is a bit-sized white square. I can't get to any applications unless I do so in a huge round about way. Help? it just got locked, can u help

Ah I found it. I found someone had a similar problem. Sebastian K led me to the fix. Thanks.

Did you try to remove the applet and put it back on? Or remove the whole panel and create it all over again? It's a bit of a nuisance, but it usually re-configures your panel.
