I have no sounds

Asked by Scott Fitch

I am running a Toshiba A205-S4577 Notebook, and I have no sounds. All of my sound settings are set to have sounds, but even with the volume turned to the max, I have no sound.

I'm running Ubuntu Linux - no vista home premium software works with it. And I never got a sound disk - The only disks that came with the PC was the Vista Home Premium and the system restore, neither of which will work with Ubuntu Linux.

I had a similar problem and the case was that my soundcard wasn't set as default.

Try
sudo asoundconf list
This will return a list of your soundcards
sudo asoundconf set-default-card <name of your soundcard from the previous list>
reboot

Can you help with this problem?
