assistance installing skype

I am new to Linux and Ubuntu and I would like to install skype. I have downloaded it but can't install. Can someone help?

hi ssm
go to the same directory where you downloaded skype, extract it. Then after that you'll see file a called data.tar.gz, click it. It will give you a mini window, click that folder. You'll see two folders(etc and usr).click usr, then bin lastly click skype.
Wait for some moment for a skype logging window. As a new user you'll have to join, but if not you can just logg-in. From there the journey continues.

if you downloaded the bin's you may not have to install anything so long as all the depenedancies are met
