Minimising the Application

I am suffering from a strange problem. Whenever, I minimize firefox, it closes and is not available on the status bar. Similar is the problem in respect of Terminal. Pl help.

Is it just those programs, or is it all (you may have deleted the task list on the panel)

If it is all, right click on the panel (left-most of a large space) and click 'Add to Panel...'.

The in the list, find 'Window List' and click the add button. Now see if the problem continues.
