**** CHANGING ICONS OF APPLICATIONS IN THE MENU PANEL ****

  1. right-click on the menu .. choose edit-menus
  2. choose an application
  3. right-click, choose properties from the menu
  4. this will open a window with properties about the menu-option
  5. click on the icon in this window
  6. select a different icon

OR

If it doesnt work,

Right click on the panel and click on add to panel...

In the resulting window under system and hardware click on network monitor and then clock on add

Now you can see the network icon in the panel..

To configure your network you can click on the icon and then click configure...

That should bring up the network manager and allow you to configure your interfaces..

Or if it doesnt work:

try removing the Network Applet on the StartUp programs of your Session and adding it again.
