Max resolution is 640*480 on i845

My System is perfectly capable of displaying resolutions of more than 1024*768, but when i installed Ubuntu, the max resoultion I am getting is 640*480.
My configuration is:

Intel Pentium IV
512+256 DDR RAM
Intel 845 Chipset Motherboard

Hi,
I've the Intel 855 Chipset and there is no problem with higher resolutions. Maybe it helps.

I had exactly the same situation or similar to yours.
 Go to bug # 49188 where you may find the answer to your problem, or refer to request for help # 1038 answered by Rich Johnson ('nixternal' in Ubuntu Wiki).
