slow ubuntu

Asked by Thomas

Ubuntu is responding very slow. When I click a program or application it takes a full minute for the window to open.

Maybe a full harddrive partition? Check it out using 'df' in a terminal window.

Thank you but I've already tried that on a 60 gig hardrive. I'm just gonna try a re-install again. I did this on another computer and it seems to be working so far. But I have another minor problem that maybe you could help. Even though I have power management set to never turn off power, my monitor keeps going off after an idle time of about 10 minutes when the screensaver is supposed to come on???
Thanks again.
