Hi redjack

It really seems to me, that you saved a session with an open terminal.
This is normal for Linux/Unix. Often they are configured in a way to remember what applications were open when you logged off and start them when you login again.

Try to close the terminal before you logout/shutdown/restart Ubuntu.
Maybe you want also to change this behaviour. Go to the menu

System -> Preferences -> Sessions
on the tab "Session Options"

Hope this helps.

Can you help with this problem?
