Can you provide more information about this problem...

1. Does the program start up properly
2. Which network are you trying to connect to (MSN, Yahoo, etc...)
3. Do you get any specific error message

Yeah I myself get an error whenever I try to connect to my MSN account. I think its more or less related to GAIM then it is to Ubuntu. I'll post a report on it soon.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing problems! I hope we can help you resolve them soon.

Can you connect with any other MSN client? Like the official MSN client, aMSN or Kopete? I find that MSN in general is fairly unreliable, no matter what client you use; frequent server outages are common. For this reason it's important to establish whether the problem is caused by gAIM or Microsoft's MSN Messenger servers.

Can you also try the following in gAIM:
1. Open the account editor and open your MSN account for editing.
2. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
3. Enable "Use HTTP Method" option and save changes.
4. Retry connecting to your MSN account.
