clock 2.20.1 does not update time as needed

Asked by uncloned

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Ubuntu 7.10 running off USB hard drive on Acer aspire 5102WLMi
The clock does not reset itself when booting ubuntu
it also seems to change the bios clock because when I boot to winders XP the time there is then wrong as well
this does not happen if I stay in windows
I think ubuntu also keeps its own ime if I set it manually
it would be nice to be able to force a time update from a time server like windows

Hello,

This is a common situation in dual boot(w/windows) systems due to the way windows stores time. Every other OS uses UTC/GMT, where Windows uses 'local' time. This is covered in the section 'Multiple Boot Systems Time Conflicts' on the wiki page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuTime

Best Regards,
Williamts99
