Asked by Keith Largue on 2012-07-25

I have icons left from applications I have removed(typically a red circle with a line through it) how can I remove them ? I have tried to cancel but all I get for actions are "launch" and "properties"

I do not understand the question
 What is the output of:
lsb_release -a; uname -a

my desktop is Dell Inspiron one

Copy the line I gave and press CTRL+ALT+T
Paste the command to the terminal and hit ENTER
Copy the output and paste here as an update.

I did not get a result the reply was

kl@ubuntu:~$ isb_release-a;uname-a
isb_release-a: command not found
uname-a: command not found

Look at the command you ran, then look at the command I gave. Pay attention to SPACES.

The second choice is what it looks like
as for a simple search would have shown me that, a simple question in english would have assisted
I think I will live with the icons I seem to be conversing in a different language
