Is there an option to hide the panel by keyboard shortcut and an auto-hide option?

Asked by محمد أحمد

The top panel of Gnome 2 used to have a right-click menu to customize the panel, there was an option to auto-hide the panel, and I think there was an option to hide the panel by a keyboard shortcut. I try to reclaim some of the feature of Gnome 2 using The Gnome-panel, those last options are not in gnome-panel, I wish them to ba added if possible. Thanks.

Just a suggestion, but you should add which version you are using.
I'm in Ubuntu 11.04, "Natty Narwhal", using the "Classic" desktop selection for Gnome. It's Gnome version 2.32.1, and it still offers these options when I right-click the panel. If you can still right-click and get a menu, it is under the "Properties" section.
If anything is different for you, I recommend you add which versions you are using.

Hello,

The shortcuts seem to change at every new version of Ubuntu :-)
But never mind, the auto-hide option may be hidden but it's still there.

With older versions you could rigth click on the panel to select properties
I may be wrong but:
- with 11.10 You have to press alt + right click on the panel
- with 12.04 LTS it's not enough, you have to press alt + "windows" + right click on the panel.

Hope this helps
Regards
Enrico

Is there any tweak to make the upper panel in Unity auto-hide like Gnome-panel?
