The top menu bar is misconfigurated

Asked by Gustavo Kazuhiko Rodrigues Mitamura

Hello..
I have a desktop using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the Nvidia legacy 96 driver.
So, there is this weird problem going on whenever I login.. there are two users, me and mom. Whenever we login on any of these accounts, the top menu bar appears all messed up. The turn off menu is gone, the connection drop down menu is also messed up, as are all of the other icons, except for the left drop down menus like Applications, Places and System.

Yesterday, she logged in and there were no drop down menus on the right of the bar, except for the wired connection one! I am sure this is something to do with the Nvidia Legacy driver, because when it wasn't installed, the bar would behave properly.

What do? Is there any alternative for the Nvidia driver on the LTS version I am using? How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.
