Yahoo Messenger is quite poor. The downloadable .deb did not work for me. Using alien which converts .rpm to .deb enabled me to use the Redhat version. Follow the instructions at http://go.bizkomm.com/computers/ubuntu_linux_tips_and_tricks/77/installing-yahoo-messenger-in-ubuntu/

hi,
you should find it by using "whereis" command. Type this in a terminal:

whereis ymessenger

You can also list applications which starts with y. To do this open a terminal type y and press tab key. A list of applications will appear starting with y.

Hope this will help you.
