entering sudo dpkg configure a won't solve problem

Asked by mike hall

Hi all
I am very new to linux and I have read the solutions posted for this problem and have tried to get the command to run but it seems I must be inputting it in every way but the correct one as it does not do anything.
I have at the top of the screen an orange box with a star in it and it says when I highlight it this means your installed packages have unmet dependencies
All help very gratefully recieved

Mike

These are some of the ways I have tried to input via the terminal sudo "dkpg --configure-a", sudo dkpg configure a, "sudo dkpg --configure-a", but nothing happens

HI Mike,

If there's no output then it looks as if dpkg finished successfully. Do you want to try the orange box again (update manager) to see if you can now update properly?

If this still doesn't resolve the issue, may I suggest running the following two commands:

sudo aptitude update
sudo update-manager

Hopefully from here, you should be able to update your packages!

Hi Mike
My name is Cliff McAtee
I am having the same problem. The package that needs to update is Package manager.
I tried all of the suggested answers.
Still will not work.
Any more help would be appreciated

Cliff
