Ubuntu Classic - no panels

Asked by Mike Cummings

After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04, I found the Unity interface not to my liking, so I booted into Ubuntu Classic. It went well the first time, but subsequent attempts have resulted in just the background being displayed, no panels or icons. The Alt+F2 combo doesn't work, nor can I get a terminal, although right-clicking on the background gets me the regular background menu. I tried Ubuntu Classic (no effects), same result. Only the Ubuntu (unity) is working right now, Please help?

If you press CTRL+ALT+T do you get a terminal

If so, run:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel
