startup application

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 with Gnome (I think). When I first started in April this year with Linux I had 3 headings at startup. Now, for some reason, I have 5 headings: File/Edit/View/places & help. What has happened and how can I get back to the three headings?

man it doesn't matter 3 heading ...5 heading !!!!!

It matters a lot. The three headings i used to have were quite different to the five I now have. I wish that I could remember them. I think that one was "system" and another was "places".

Is it possible that I might have accidentally changed to Gnome from another system, like Unity?

It has righted itself and gone back to whatever it was that I started with.
