bottom panel missing from desktop

two things actually one the bottom panel is missing from the desk top. when i minimize things they disipear. I have down loaded a app. that was supposed to fix that but I have yet in my wonderment figured out how to install an app. I can download it but thats as far as it ever went. There is no add and remove section in ubuntu 14.01

Well, if you are in Natty (11.04) then there is no bottom panel, windows are minimized to the Launcher on the left hand side of the screen (which can be made appear by pushing your mouse to the left of the screen). Once the launcher is there, you just click on the icon of the app whose window you minimized and it will show the window.

To install an app in 11.04 you use the Software Center if the app you are looking for is in there then you will be able to install it. If the app you downloaded is a .deb file you should just be able to double-click the file and it will launch the Software Center to install it. If the app you downloaded is not a .deb, then there should be more instructions as to how to install it that are with the app.

I think you need also to restore the "Trash" applet to your toolbar:
- right click on a clear area of the panel and select
+ Add to panel

Add the "Trash" applet
