where have my minimised windows gone?

when i minimise a window they disappear off the desktop out of sight, I'm unable to find these windows or maximise them, where are they going and how do I get them to minimise to the task bar at the bottom of the desktop so they are easily retrievable?

I have answered my own question. The answer was found by right clicking on the panel, clicking on ' add to panel' and then adding the 'window selector' button to the panel. This lists all the current open windows and it easy to see where they have gone.
