Lost my ability to switch screens

I used to be able to switch from one screen to another, I had four screens. Now I just have one and the screen icons on the lower left are gone?

Try right clicking a blank space in your panel and adding the workspace switcher applet.

you can then right click this and add as many workspaces as you need (in preferences).
