accidental deleting icons

Asked by c_kazazis1a

One day I saw at the top right corner two icons for sound instead of one. I decided to delete one of them but afterwards all the menus were deleted and I simply cannot find a way to install them back. Right clicking does not help. Can someone help?

Thanks
Chris

The sound icon is part of the Indicator Applet. You might want to check if it is still installed (sudo dpkg -l |grep indicator-applet), if not installed, install the packages indicator-applet (and indicator-applet-session) and then add them back to the panel (right click->add to panel-> Indicator Applet / Indicator Applet Session. You might have to restart your panel to apply changes: sudo killall gnome-panel

Thanks Patrick but the problem is that I do not have access to anything including the command environment. How can I tackle this problem?

Try:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

Can you help with this problem?
