ANY HELP would be greatly thanksed...

honestly... im a windows power user so this linux interface makes me feel extremly lost... is there a key combo while booting I can press that is like the windows TASK MANAGER!?

I'd feel better if I could just watch stuff load...

Hold shift at boot, select recovery mode, select root.

Then run:

useradd testuser; passwd testuser

you can chnage 'testuser' to whatever you wish, you have now created a test user. If you then run:

reboot

Log in as the new user, is it ok?
