Clean install of Gutsy tribe5 workspace switcher gives 2 workplaces and no option to add or remove.

Asked by Rob Simpson

Right click >preferences only gives option of showing 2 workspaces on n rows, but no spinner to add or subtract workspaces. Tried removing workspace applet and adding back to the panel.

Rob, please tell us if:
Are you using desktop effects...?
Is your system upgraded...?

Thank you.

Desktop effects were enabled by default and I could not find where to turn them off (no menu entry in System/Preferences as with Tribe 3). Once I changed to ATI's own drivers, desktop effects have been turned off automatically.

I'll close this item as solved, as it is already being worked on in bug #129152.;

Rob, i am with tribe 5 and i think you can disable desktop effects from the menu: System->Preferences->Appearance-> Tab Desktop Effects and select disable.

Thank you, I found that out from the bug report. Now I'm using the restricted drivers desktop effects don't work anyway. I have to stay with the restricted ATI drivers as I was getting odd graphics glitches with the open source drivers. I read elsewhere yesterday that ATI intend releasing new Linux drivers this month with support for AIGLX. I'm looking forward to that.
