Window box disappears in lower panel when minimized ?

Loaded (9.10) on another CPU. When any window that is opened and then 'minimized' via (---) the window disappears from desktop, as it should, but its' tab box name does not appear in the lower panel for restoring. My other (9.10) systems work fine. At loss as to what has happened ???? If system is shut down the windows pop up again for a moment then go away when shut down occurs. Can anyone help ?? poopa

Maybe the applet showing the minimized applications is gone?
Right click the panel at the bottom, click on "Add to panel", look for "Windows list" or something called like that. Drag & Drop it on the bottom panel.
