I have accidentally removed the Applications panel how to replace please

Asked by Michael POllington

My shut down icon was covered by a small blank panel created by flickr I believe, in an effort to remove it I accidentally removed the top panel which housed my applications and firefox icons, how do I replace them please. I now have no immediate access to anything. When clearing the infringement it did say all items on the panel would be lost, I mistakenly thought that it only applied to the newly created blank panel that was creating the problem.

To reset the panel to defaults, type this in a terminal:
gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

Will give you a square base to start from.
