Give me the steps to install a system tray in simple terms.

When I rebooted my computer, the words: APPLICATIONS, SYSTEM, PLACES do not appear in the SYSTEM TRAY.
I tried "create launcher" and named it "sudo gnome-terminal". When "password" appeared, there was no place to type the password. EXACTLY what do I need to do to install the words that I have listed. PLEASE give me a SIMPLE EXPLANATION.

Do you still see the panel (what you call system tray)?
If you do, right click, then "Add to Panel", then you will find the menu in the list.
