Panel Issues

Asked by dd

Hello Ubuntu Users,

I am having an issue with my Panel at the top right hand corner of my screen. For some reason, after restarting, I cannot see my name or the shut down button that is generally always there. I thought at first that this was a resolution or monitor issue, but it is not because everything worked perfectly fine before restarting. I also took the check mark off of expand to see in the center of the screen what was happening and my name, nor the shutdown button was there. Is there any way that I can fix this without reinstalling Ubuntu 10.04?

Thanks
dd

Open your Terminal and try the commands below to restore your default Panel:

gconftool-2 –shutdown
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

HTH.

Seems you miss the MeMenu.
In case you don't have those apps installed you need these packages:
indicator-messages
indicator-me
indicator-session

In order to see all the different indicators you may add 'notification area' to panel.
Right click empty space -> add to panel

All about indicators.
